Have you heard of hot chocolate on a stick?! What will they think of next? I’m not sure who came up with this concept, but it’s definitely a fun one. I’ve been wanting to try it out for a long time and I’m so glad I finally got around to it. This recipe couldn’t be easier…it’s really the presentation that counts and I obviously made them heart themed given the upcoming holiday! The fun part is that you can customize these for any holiday/celebration by just changing up the stick portion and adding some sprinkles. I used paper straws for the sticks, but wooden spoons also work really well.
The cubes are a mixture of chocolate, cocoa and powdered sugar. Unfortunately, you may have to purchase a silicone ice cube tray if you don’t already have one. The hardened cubes are just too difficult to remove from the plastic ice cube trays. Once the cubes have set, you simply add them to a cup of steaming milk and stir until the chocolate has completely melted. As I’m sure you can imagine, kids go crazy over these. They also make such a fun gift or party favor for just about anyone!
- 16 oz semisweet chocolate
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Six paper straws or wooden spoons
- Silicone Ice tray
- Milk, for serving
- Melt chocolate in a double boiler. After chocolate is completely melted, stir in powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Pour mixture evenly into silicone ice cube tray. Add a paper straw or wooden spoon to each cube and allow to set in the fridge for several hours. Pop out of trays, add chocolate cube to 8 oz of hot milk, stir and enjoy!
