Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love anything and everything having to do with cupcakes. They are definitely by far my favorite baked treat! I didn’t think there was any way to improve a cupcake until I discovered mason jar cupcakes. I mean what could be better than two cupcakes layered with buttercream and sprinkles all packed into a mason jar?
These are so easy to make. You can use your favorite cupcake and buttercream recipes and play around with food coloring and different colored ribbon to make these perfect for any holiday or occasion.
They are a great dessert to bring to a party or on a picnic because you can put tops on the jars and easily transport them. So much easier than trying to transport 24 individual cupcakes! These also make fun party favors! I love the idea of attaching a plastic or wooden fork to them so that they truly are ready to eat immediately.
There is no real recipe for these. You simply make your favorite cupcakes and frosting and place one cupcake in the jar (I recommend using the wide mouth mason jars so that the cupcakes fit perfectly). Use a pastry bag fitted with whatever tip you like to top the cupcake with frosting and place the second cupcake on top of it. Then frost the top cupcake and decorate however you want!
