I’ve wanted to share this cake with you for awhile, but I didn’t have an occasion to make it for and I was avoiding having an entire cake sitting around. I have made it many times in the past, but for some reason, I didn’t have any pictures of it. When someone recently requested this cake for their birthday, I jumped at the opportunity to make it. This cake is one of my favorites because it is simple to put together and the final product is just so much fun. I mean, who doesn’t want an excuse to eat cake AND candy at the same time?!
To assemble this cake, start by frosting your favorite two-layer cake. Immediately, attach kit kat bars around the entire cake. The frosting that is already on the cake will keep the candy in place. It is important to attach the candy right after the cake is frosted, or the frosting will harden slightly and make it harder to add candy. Then pour a bag of m&m’s onto the top of the cake and spread them out to cover the surface. You may want to press them down slightly, so that they stick to the frosting. Tie a ribbon around the cake and you are done! You can definitely cover the top of the cake in almost any candy you want. Reese’s Pieces, gummy bears and skittles are other great choices. Both kids and adults will go crazy for this cake. The next time you want to make a birthday cake, give this one a try!
