WARNING: these are very addicting! Pretzels and chocolate are an addicting combination to begin with, but the fact that these are bite size make them extra hard to resist. I can’t remember when I started making these, but it was years ago and I haven’t stopped since. November and December can be very busy months involving lots of cooking, so I figured it was a good time to share one of the quickest recipes in existence. These literally take 5 minutes of hands on time, 5 minutes in the freezer and they are done! The only thing easier is opening a bag of store bought chocolate covered pretzels.
I tend to keep a stash in my freezer which can be very dangerous, but also perfect for spur of the moment visitors or random gifts for friends. These are a great treat to put out in a bowl at any party or holiday gathering and I can guarantee both kids and adults won’t be able to get enough. These candies also make a cute homemade holiday gift. Grab some pretzels, hugs and m&m’s and go give them a try. I dare you to eat just one!
Sorry, but I had to tempt you with an up close pic of the ooey gooey chocolatey pretzel amazingness. Enjoy!
Pretzel Hug Candies
Yield: as many as you would like
1 large bag of pretzel snaps, DO NOT use butter snaps
1 bag of Hershey’s Hugs Candies, unwrapped
1 large bag of M&M’s
Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silpat. Line pretzels up on the cookie sheet in one layer. Top each pretzel with a Hershey’s Hug. Bake for 4-5 minutes, just until the chocolate is shiny and soft. The chocolate should still hold its shape until you place an M&M on top of each one.
Carefully place an M&M on each one and press down slightly so that the chocolate melts into the pretzel. Place in the refrigerator or the freezer until solid. You can store them at room temperature, but I like to keep them in the fridge or freezer.
