Here’s a festive treat to start Thanksgiving week off right. Pie is usually at the center of every Thanksgiving dessert spread, but sometimes it’s fun to mix it up and cupcakes belong at every celebration if you ask me. These cupcakes are so simple to make and will make young guests very happy. You could even put out the materials and let the kids make their own turkey cupcakes! It will definitely keep them busy and it’s a fun way to celebrate the holiday.
These turkeys definitely look a little silly, but in a very cute way. Candy corn form the feathers and beak and white chocolate chips are used for the eyes. In order to make the head, I used a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip. You could let kids use a pastry bag, but you could also frost the cupcakes and pipe the head ahead of time and then leave the decorating for later. The finished cupcakes would also make a great table decoration.
If you are hosting Thanksgiving, I hope your cooking and baking is going well. If you are still looking for ideas, add these cupcakes to your list! They are guaranteed to be a hit.
Batch of your favorite cupcakes
Batch of your favorite chocolate frosting
White Chocolate Chips
Black icing- I used the gel icing found at most supermarkets
Pastry bag fitted with a large round tip
Frost each cupcake and use a pastry bag to pipe a big dollop for the head. Attach candy corn for feathers and beaks and add sprinkles. Attach white chocolate chips for eyes and use the black icing to form dots on the chocolate chips. Enjoy!
